Jobs, Opportunities for Businesses and Services is a program offered by RICEDCO.  Those desiring to find employment may fill out an application from 9:00 to noon at the office at 110 East Avenue North.   Employers who had need of employees will be faxed the application for their consideration.  If they choose to contact the applicant, they may do so.   RICEDCO is basically acting as a clearinghouse to help residents find employment and to help employers find their needs.  The applicants will not be sent to the business needing employees.

Processes frozen food products such as diabetic cookie dough and desserts which are ready to bake or serve.  Thse products are supplied mostly to institutions.  "The Little 'Ole Cookie House" is the fund-raising goodies division.

 

Galyon Brothers manufacture homes inside a building until weatherized.  After being finished outside, the homes are delivered to the customer's site.  They also do concrete work and on-site construction.

Hancock custom manufactures electric motors, both AC and DC.   They also do repair work on specialty items such as very large engines.  Their requests come from all over the world.

The largest industrial employer in Rice County, IMC Salt, Inc. (formerly known as American Salt) has been marketing evaporated salt products since 1911.  They process 300,000 tons of salt annually into water softening pellets, livestock blocks and food grade salts.

 

 

JACAM manufactures chemical products for oil fields, particularly for corrosion and scale inhibitors along with chemical solutions for the steel, salt and car wash industries.  Worldwide headquarters are in Sterling with another plant in the Middle East.  The products are shipped nationwide and worldwide.

Jim's Machine Shop is owned and managed by a couple who share managing the two shifts.  They produce precision component parts and agri business machined parts and have been since 1981.

Since 1939, Lyons Manufacturing Co. has been a production machine shop.  With addition of computerized machines, fewer number of employees are able to produce the same volume of aircraft parts as in years past.

 

 

Lyons Salt Company mines rock salt which is crushed and sold in bulk or 50 lb. bags as de-ice road salt or animal feed salts.

Palleton of Kansas formerly only repaired damaged wood pallets and resold them.  They now are producing new pallets with a machine that "does it all."  The have been located in the Rice County Industrial Park since 1988.

Sterling Farm Supply manufactures the Sterling soil packer for agriculture producers.  The packers are sold through equipment dealers throughout the United States.

 

 

United Industries, Inc. moved to Rice County in 1995.  Since then, they have more than doubled the space for their operation.  They manufacture water filters for recreational use, process water applications to include sand filters and regenerative diatomaceous earth filters.  They market world-wide and produce a yearly catalog that has distribution of 55,000.
